Description

Orchestra Prep is a beginning level all strings ensemble in GCYO.

Students in Orchestra Prep will audition to join the Prelude Ensemble at the end of the Fall Semester.

The additional class dates are the dress rehearsal and concert call time for the Fall Concert.

 

Every GCYO ensemble is supported by a group of coaches who regularly assist the conductor in rehearsals. The conductor the Orchestra Prep and Prelude ensembles is Dr. Daria Janssen. Please learn more about her excellent professional accomplishments below.

 

Ukrainian born, American cellist, pianist and conductor Daria Yevgenievna Titova
Janssen first appeared as a soloist with the Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra at the age
of nine.  A winner of international music competitions, she holds degrees from Longy
School of Music, Emerson College, Masters and a Doctorate from Boston University. 
Daria is a 2022 winner of the International Clara Schumann Competition and a former
faculty at Bob Jones University as well as a substitute conductor at Bob Jones
Academy. Currently, Daria is a teacher at the Daria Janssen Music School, Strings
Faculty at North Greenville University, conductor of Orchestra Prep and Prelude
Orchestra at Greenville County Youth Orchestras and a cellist at the Greenville
Symphony Orchestra.  She lives in Greenville, SC with her husband, composer David
C. Janssen, two daughters and son.
